I love the silver trim, it gives off a more professional look then the black/orange imo.

I've read through the whole damn thread, with a few remaining questions
1. Best processor for this system? T9900 v q9100 or even q9000; same old quad v duo question... the way I figure, the 5797 is compatible up to q9300, so if i want to upgrade i can, and hopefully on the cheap at a later date. I plan on using this laptop for 2-3 years, at which time I'll be ready to build my own desktop... Is there significant reason I should abandon this logic and go for broke now?
2. If i don't go with the qx9300 right now, should I upgrade to SSD first, then qx9300? Which is more important?
3. Any final suggestions? Comments? With the current config, would it be worth it to get the BRD? I'm concerned that I'd spend the money, only to have some aspect of the laptop (eg. sound) bottleneck the experience...Do i need to blow $99 on a sound card?
You all did a great job with the optimization info in this thread as well. I'm looking forward to getting at it.Last edited by El Suave; 7th August 2009 at 03:52 AM. Reason: I originally posted this when I was on page 12/63. Sorry for the redundancy!

Yeah, I saw your thread. I don't let a single post go by my eyes in this forum. http://forum.notebookreview.com/show....php?p=5175003
You have made a very good decision by choosing silver trim. Very nice choice.
Could you tell us a little bit about what you plan to be doing with your notebook so that we can recommend you a CPU?
If you like watching Blu-ray movies, then get the BR readable ODD.
Here is my stance on Intel Turbo Memory. You're already getting a snappy hard drive anyway, so I don't know if you will see much benefit from the memory card. need help deciding please, new to sager!

Re: **M570TU/ETU (Sager 5796/5797) Owners Thread**
Soviet - I play Darkfall online, RA3, FPS like CoD, crysis, HL 2, L4D, etc., and would be using the system predominantly as a gaming system. I am not involved in any heavy 3d modeling, so that's why i've been reticent about dropping 900 bones on the Qx 9300. This is really my first foray into high-end gaming systems; I currently run an intel 2.4ghz inspiron 5100, 1GB Ram. It's about 6 years old, and runs just god awful. I've become a bit of an enthusiast and want a system I can tinker with as I work up to building a desktop from scratch.
As I said above, I am hoping this machine gives me 1-2 years. I do want to play the newest games (hint SC2, D2), but not sure how necessary a quad core is yet.
I can afford to upgrade, just not sure if i should. If someone can sell me on a good reason to go with the qx9300 now, I will
...
Oh i should mention that I came from an HP HDx 18t, that I had for a few days. I think that rig is more multimedia focused, so it made sense with the screen and the altec lansing speakers that Blue Ray would have been a good investment... I've heard that the 5797 has tinny, average sound quality like we've come to expect from laptops...
Now that I think of it, my bro as a ps3...
it's settled, i'll save myself the cash.
Also, with the silver/silver trim, is the entire computer covered? Is it glossy, or more buffered looking? I saw your pics Soviet, and your computer looks really nice... is that your own mod?
One last question - I have a WD Caviar black 1tb 7200 installed in a Rosewill RX385 enclosure - I've read some places that people get system lag when they plug/unplug their sata drives... Does anyone know if this is a consistent issue? I plan on putting all of my music, movies on my external and just running my OS/ 1-2 installed games on the internal.

Re: **M570TU/ETU (Sager 5796/5797) Owners Thread**
The problem isn't the speaker quality, it's that they fire to the sides. If I cup my hands around the speakers facing forward, they sound infinitely better...
The majority of the computer is matte. The aluminum back cover is anodized, and will smudge a bit, and there's a thin glossy strip on the latch side of the screen cover that will smudge. Otherwise it's a fairly tough laptop with more of a business feel, it will feel like luxury compared to the HP.
For the CPU, I would take the stock CPU and upgrade to a QX9300 yourself. And that's it, anything else doesn't really make sense anymore.Hand Built Desktop - Radeon 6850 - Athlon ll X4 3Ghz
Currently without a notebook, what's next!?

Re: **M570TU/ETU (Sager 5796/5797) Owners Thread**
Thanks for all the advice. I've decided to just go ahead with the qx9300, only because it should extend the lifetime of my rig. I figure it's an investment
.
I was torn for a second between the np9280 and the np5797 because the np9280 is pretty comparative to what I would do if I was going with a desktop right now. Decided I'm staying with a functional laptop config.
Is anyone familiar with esata lag issues with the np5797? Also, I'm looking to read up on partitioning, in laymen's terms preferably. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
As soon as the phones open Monday...Hope to join you all soon..

Who are you buying your M570TU from?
You can always buy the cheapest CPU and buy the QX9300 separate from another seller for around $500.
There are no latency issues with eSATA on this system.Last edited by Soviet Sunrise; 8th August 2009 at 12:43 AM.

Soviet - I've looked at both xoticpc and pctorque, which appear to have the lowest prices for this particular configuration... Do you have a preference or advise one over the other? RJtech for some reason appears to run about $100 more on average.
Also, i'm a pretty new to hardware, and have not installed a processor before... getting around bios is still a new experience for me... cpus pretty easy to install?
I'm learning as I go
