Re: My Mythlogic Experience
Just ran into a snag, review delayed. I went to intsall my 500GB 7200.12 HD and there is no drive bay caddy. I have emailed Mythlogic support to see if this was just an omission. Pretty big deal though, as I now have no way to install a second drive. I was going to run some FRAPS gameplay vids and I wont do that on my SSD, far to hard on it.
I have got my auto ticket back, but their not even open yet so time for some desktop gaming before my RL duties take over.Exmortis aka "Scott"

SSDs are tougher than the general public thinks :-) Don't even worry about it. Look at this way. The middle of the line SSDs from 2010 were rated for 8 years of use with 10gb worth of writes a day. That was when controllers and the overall tech was still growing. I don't have any numbers for todays drives but I would imagine they have a good amount of writes before they go bye bye.
Just think about how long you expect to use your SSD. 8-10 years? I would doubt that. Most people, especially enthusiasts, move on pretty fast. My point is to use your hardware to its potential now cause when its uses are surpassed, you're either already upgraded or its time to upgrade. :-) Just my cents.
On the other hand, you can always write to a ramdisk. I dont know what Windows has in this area but Linux supports tmpfs. I assume you have plenty enough ram, 8b+. :-) I dont store large files or media on my SSD either hehe. But for the simple reason that I don't have the room, not because its "far too hard on it".
I find too often that people baby their SSD too much and don't use it for its potential. I'm not saying that you are particularly so in the FRAPs situation, but its not too hard on it to do so :-)
Short version: enjoy the SSD! SSD+HDD setup is awesome. That's what I do :-)

Well the omission was me!!! Thanks so much Josh for your fast response, and I really hope your Saturday guy was off for "happy" family reasons, not sick child reasons.

Re: My Mythlogic Experience
Yes true but remember SSDs actually have shorter life now with 20nm then with older 25nm NAND flash memory. It is still a long time, I don't baby my SSD's I care for them.

My first gen Agility 1 128GB is still going strong, a little care goes a long ways.
However FRAPS is needless writes, and with video creation it is a whole lot more, so I do not want to do it on my SSD, as well it just dirties blocks needlessly.
I run SSD+HD in desktop and my new Nyx1712 (as of now I installed HD hehe). I relocate user files to HD, again those are heavy write not big or in need of fast reads, so they are fine on my HD.Exmortis aka "Scott"
