I had a yellow device in the Device Manager, which I assumed was my audio device. Wrong. It was the UAA device. After I tried every UAA and Conexant driver from HP and anywhere else I could find, I finally conceded and right clicked on the yellow exclamation, selected "Update Driver" and let Windows Update search the internet. It found an appropriate UAA driver, which then exposed both the Audio and Modem devices. I again let Windows Update search the internet and it found the drivers for both the Audio and Modem. :D At this time I retried the recommended Conexant driver and it didn't work. So I went back to PCWizard to confirm I had the CXT5045 chip and searched around for the CXT5045. A linux blog suggested that the CXT5045 was the Audio device usually on the dv6000 series, so I tried the Conexant driver for the dv6000. And it worked! :D So now I have the full set drivers for the dv2500t. I just got this laptop last week, so maybe there has been a tweak to hardware recently? And many thanks to Robvia for putting together a most excellent guide that saved me hours of searching. And thanks to docangle and demnick for their help finding all the drivers. todd |
Re: dv2500,6500 and duel boot vista/XP
Hey Rahul,
Which driver did you use for the Webcam. I have a Dv2500t and the only things left are the audio, which is a pain in the neck, the webcam and quickplay. |
Re: dv2500,6500 and duel boot vista/XP
Anyone for that matter?

Re: dv2500,6500 and duel boot vista/XP
Nevermind, Got it figured out. The whole setup depended on SP2 being installed. Once that was done, followed by a reinstallation of the MS UAA drivers, things fell into place automatically. The hardware wizards took care of pretty much everything. Thanks for this thread! And XP on this laptop is awesome. So much better than Vista.

Re: dv2500,6500 and duel boot vista/XP
Quick question
I DJ using soft/hardware that is best run with XP pro and in a few days I'm ordering a dv2500t Heres one option I'm considering to run both vista and xp pro, someone please tell me if its practical: 2 HDDs, one with XP pro and one with the preinstalled vista home premium Would it be easy enough to switch the drives out for gigs? or are the drives buried too much? or would a dual boot be the best way around the issue? |
Re: dv2500,6500 and duel boot vista/XP
If you don't need the hard disk space, dual booting would be much less of a pain. The drives are removable, but the mounts and screws really aren't meant to be doing it every day. You'll probably strip out the screws pretty quickly. You'll also need to either move the special HP drive adapter every time, or buy another one at the highway robbery price of $40 (for just a little piece of plastic).
Another option might be booting from a USB drive. |
Re: dv2500,6500 and duel boot vista/XP
My dv6500t is due in this coming week - has anyone actually installed the DriverHeaven Nvidia drivers on either a 6500 or 2500? Only reason I ask is I tried laptopvideo2go drivers on my ASUS F3T/7600/XP and had a few file-not-found errors plus SWAT 4 would not run at all. Rolled back to the ASUS driver and all is well. Unfortunately, as of 8/19 there still are no H-P XP drivers for the 8400 GS. TIA...

Re: dv2500,6500 and duel boot vista/XP
Hey guys, this is my first post and I'm in need of some help:) I have been reading forums sites all week about installing XP over Vista on a laptop that I am just so confused now:confused: lol Just this past weekend I purchased HP DV6568SE Special Edition (white) and I would like to install XP over Vista, as I'm not a fan of vista lol. The thing is I read so much that I don't know what is the right way to do this... I found many guides but they all have different driver downloads then what I need (Unless I'm wrong) So if its possible can anyone point me in the direction of how to install XP over Vista. Links or anything with the proper driver downloads for my DV6568SE would be great!:D I also do not have a USB floppy drive so I would have to stream the drivers onto a CD.... but like I said any help would be really appreciated!
Thanks;) Feel free to email me... lil_skater_punk@hotmail.com |
Re: dv2500,6500 and duel boot vista/XP
Hey lilskaterpunk,
You could do worse than to look at the following site, hosted by a user of this thread :) http://www.nogodforme.com/HPDV6500T.htm Now on to my reason for being here, I am using a DV2535EA and have managed to install XP media centre edition and presumably all drivers...however I have 3 problems.... 1. When the notebook goes into standby, either by closing the lid or by timing out, when i go back to it the screen wont turn back on..so I have to switch off and back on again :( 2. DVD's wont play in players such Windows Media Player or real player, presumably due to the fact that i get the error of the graphics drivers not being microsoft registered, it says the following in WMP: "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card." 3. Quickplay....hmmm...can i be reinstalled? What version is DV2500 and XP compatible (if any) and where do I get it from? Any help is very much apprciated everyone...thanks in advance Cheers, Craig |
