On ebay, your m18x with similar specs (i7 2960xm + GTX 580 SLI) goes for about ~$3000.

I would highly suggest against a straight trade, as it would be extremely difficult to find a desktop worth $3000. Even $2500.

Even if you bought all the highest end parts new (with the new 7970 and GTX 680 Kepler cards in crossfire or SLI, SSDs, and Ivy bridge CPUs + mobo), you'd be hard pressed to spend $3000.

You're much, much better off selling it, and then putting your own desktop together. You'd probably end up pocketing several hundred dollars in difference as well.

    Good luck.

I don't think they would do a straight trade, the gap in values are too obvious.

Good luck with your trade, but your m18x is indeed worth around $3k, lower on the forums at maybe about $2800.

    Desktops, even using i7 3930K GTX 680/AMD 7970, they won't even be worth $2k.

    But I saw an M18x with dual 6990m for 1900$ ,
His desktop uses i7 3960x , only the porcessor goes for 1000$.
and 6990m goes like = 500$ , so with all other exta things it should be like 2.4K

Especially trading somthing with these kind of value who crazy enough to agree to send their system off first. I had trade my M15x for my currently M18x with a member on here and both of us ship out the same time.

I can't really make out what you're saying, but he does not have an extreme CPU in his build. It is a Intel Core i7-3930K, not the 3960X. Not even close.

Even if he had a 3960x, I still have a hard time seeing how the total cost would run over $2000. And I hate to say it, if you're going to pay a premium, you might as well have the best. SSD + newest gen cards is a must. 6990 is an antiquated card since the 7xxx series has come out.

Also GTX 580m - is valued significantly higher than the 6990m - though this doesn't reflect their difference in performance.

actually everything priced out at NCIX before taxes come's to $2519 CDN after taxes in my province it costed $2821.
I am very trust worthy seller/buyer and the reason why am asking for the his system first is my job requires heavy encoding which without a decent spec system means I loose projects and money . Am also giving him my Facebook id for identification and a course my phone number and my address of residence.

my main reason for trading for a mobile system is I do plan to travel alot in the summer. anyways its up to him if he want trade.

I agree. Sell the laptop. Buy/build your own desktop exactly as you want, pocket the difference.
