Full MX Review?
Hi,
I am deciding between buying one of these and the standard W3V, so I am trying to justify spending the extra dollars on the upgrade.
I have read all the posts here regarding the MXW3V, as well as everything I can Google from other sites. I have been unable to find a full review of the MXW3V anywhere...can someone direct me to one?
Thanks!

Re: Full MX Review?
They just started shipping the new MX the end of August, so the magazine-type reviews are of the older model. I don't think that even here anyone did a full review of the unit, but there certainly are several user reports.
What I can tell you, which would justify any added expense (and I think Portableone's prices are comparable if you compare similar configurations) is that their modifications are at least slight improvements wrt heat, etc., the options you are offered (such as hard drive upgrades, etc.) are the best components on the market (Hitachi 7200 rpm drives, quality RAM, etc., rather than the cheapest available on the spot market) and you are dealing with incredibly reliable people.
Even the best laptop has a good chance of inevitably having problems, at least software ones. Dealing with Portableone is like dealing with no other company. An expert in your problem will get on the phone with you and spend as long as it takes to resolve your hardware- or software- issue. You don't hear the words "reformat" as their answer- they actually spend time troubleshooting, on the phone and/or via remote access. For example, my UX had a screen flicker in Word only (very strange); they had me uninstall/reinstall Office (a resonable first step), which didn't work. They spent time looking at different settings, trying different things, then took over remotely, looked at a bunch of stuff, downloaded a new video driver and installed it (all via remote access), and then just talked me through the few steps after rebooting. There was no rushing, the phone was answered after a few rings by someone in California (speaking perfect English) and I never felt like an annoyance. I also had a problem with wireless drops and they worked with me tweaking my settings until that was resolved as well. Because the company is small, not only do you get instant service, you can actually easily talk to the same person who will remember your history. I am the consummate bargain shopper (I quip that I am allergic to paying retail), yet cannot recommend Portableone enough- you truly get your money's worth here, both in a better product and in support.
From personal experience with the UX and having really researched both units, I think their modifications are worth the $. I came very close to purchasing the MX, but this machine was for my daughter, who carries it around all day with a ton of books, so ultimately the lighter UX won out. I can tell you from personal experience that there is no comparison between the UX and the Fujitsu which received so many rave reviews; the UX's reliability and durability are far superior.
Good luck- HTH!
