Re: touchpad and Fn problems CF-28mk1
Sounds like one of the keyboard ribbon cables is not secure, remove the keyboard and re-seat the ribbon cables and let us know how that goes. If that does not work try putting your old keyboard back in, if it works you may have a malfunctioning rubber keyboard.

Re: touchpad and Fn problems CF-28mk1
Check the ribbon cables on the keyboard for cuts or breaks with a magnifying glass, then do the same with the ribbon cable receptacles looking for dirt or dust that could cause a connection problem. Then get a duster can and dust out the receptacles and retry. When you are re-installing the keyboard you don't have much slack on the cables so you have to ensure that you don't put any tension on them that would pull them loose from the receptacle. Also be very careful handling the brown levers that secure the cables, they can break easily.

Re: touchpad and Fn problems CF-28mk1
Alright I did that but no luck everything else on my keyboard works fine just those 2 buttons. i think it has something to do with my drivers maybe. or whatever the hot key manager is... I downloaded it and extracted it but cannot figure out which device in device manager corresponds to it...
THIS IS JUST A TIP FOR PEOPLE WHO ALSO HAVE THIS PROBLEM
ok I figured it out. the unknown device in my device manager (ACPI\MAT0012\2&DABA3FF&0) was the hot key manager. so i downloaded the driver it extracted to "c:\util\drivers\" then went back to the device and clicked update driver and pointed it to c:\util\drivers\hotkey and it worked.
This should also enable your hidden PCMCIA slot.
to get that to work you must
1) Put something in the hidden slot
2) Then ENABLE Cardbus B in the BIOS/System Setup, save and restart
3) Use Fn+Tab to turn toggle power on and off
now instead of 2 PCMCIA slots in device manager 3 should show up...Last edited by TheSpiritOfRadio; 21st July 2012 at 12:51 AM.

Glad you got it worked out, sometimes software problems are more frustrating than hardware problems.
