CF-30: Replacing Sierra MC7525 with GOBI 2000/3000?
I'm looking at replacing my Sprint-only WWAN card (MC5725, not 7525 like I said in the title) with a GOBI card (preferably a GOBI3000 card, but I'd settle for a GOBI2000 if that is all that will work) in my CF-30 MkII. It has one of the pop-up antennas, which I'll hook up to an antenna analyzer to make sure it works with GSM frequencies. Can I just buy a replacement card and pop it in or do I need some sort of different sled? Do the GOBI cards use SIMs for GSM carriers?

The Gobi 1000 will work with the latest bios and EC. It was a late offering for the Mk2. The Gobi 2000 may work. Not sure about Gobi 3000. If your sled has dip switches they can be set for the Gobi card and should work with Sprint and Verizon. AT&T and other GSM carriers require a sim card and your Sprint sled does not have a sim slot, AFA1K. If your sled does not have dip switches it will likely not work with a Gobi card.
The HSDPA 3.6 sled will work with all US carriers if the dip switches are set correctly.
The picture is from a CF-19. You won't see this on a CF-30 sled but, the switch positions are the same. Gobi is UNDP1.Glen

+1. I'd like to know if the 3000 will work on my 31. If it works on a 30 I'm thinking yes.

Just an FYI:
If you can get a GOBI 1000 working in it, it will 100% sure work with a GOBI 2000.....
GOBI 3000 might be out because they never made a G3000 chip for the Toughbook. You will have to reflash the firmware on it at the MINIMUM~Rob - Rugged Depot LLC - (630)/300-8877~

I found out that the Gobi 3000 models that support CDMA as well as GSM are a bit outside of my budget, so I ordered a Gobi 2000 model. Thanks to everyone for the help.
