windows 7 on cf-29L
Hi all,
I have semi successfully installed windows 7 PRO on my Cf-29LWQGZBM
I installed a new 60GB Corsair SSD (On sale for 69$) using this adapter: Use LARGE SATA HARD DRIVES with our adapter for Panasonic Toughbook CF-29 caddy | eBay
And it works great and seems much faster than the stock 40GB 7200RPM drive. I figured, new Drive, new OS...
I did run into some problems with Video Drivers which were fixed by installing the Intel Drivers for the 915 chipset directly from intel's website (Vista Version).
Now, the driver works, sort of, but i still have some problems with transparencies and Open GL graphics.
Has anyone successfully been able to get Video drivers to work properly with this chipset in windows 7?
Iv seen lots of posts about it but never for an MK4
On the other hand, everything else is working fine, including the touch screen.
Any suggestions? Should i just stick with Windows XP? I have a few copies of Vista Business, should i go with that as a last resort?
Thanks

Re: windows 7 on cf-29L
My guess you did not run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor" before you installed W7. If you did it should of told you that your motherboard / video did not support it...sorry. This was one of the things it told me when I tried to install it
Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor - Download - Microsoft WindowsTo see if your PC is ready for Windows 7, download the free Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. It scans your PC for potential issues with your hardware, devices, and installed programs, and recommends what to do before you upgrade.Blair

Re: windows 7 on cf-29L
The Vista upgrade drivers for the Mk4 and Mk5(same drivers) include a video driver that will work with Win 7. All the Vista upgrade drivers will work with Win 7. Just run them in compatibility mode for Vista(not SP1 or SP2) and "Run as Administrator" just in case.
