CF-29 wireless issue, very odd
I just had high speed internet hooked up at my house, in addition connected a Netgear wireless router I have used before. My new CF-19 picked up the signal and connected right away with no issues, I also have a DVD player with wifi built right in, connected no problem. My CF-29 is not seeing the signal from the router, it's seeing other wifi signals that were always here before, and I can connect with thiose but it's not even seeing the Netgear signal. When I try to download the Netgear driver I get a message
you are attempting to open a file of type "Recovered File Fragments" (chk.)
These files are used by the operating system and by various programs. Editing or modifying them could damage your system.
If you still want to open the file, click Opoen With, otherwise, click Cancel
I have run Registry Mechanic, I have restarted all devices, and still the wifi signal coming from the Netgear router is not being seen by the CF-29 when I click, View Wireless networks.?????? Any help

Re: CF-29 wireless issue, very odd
what model number 29?
what wifi card is it?
The older 2100 cards won't connect to wpa/wpa2 secured networks (as well as a few other security protocalls). and the 2195's will with a firmware update (I think).
Also, I have had random wifi connection problems with machines to which I have turned off automatic updates (HOG!) in conjunction with some other unknown external stimuli. There are no stupid questions, only a whole lot of inquisitive idiots...

Re: CF-29 wireless issue, very odd
Assuming you are using XP?
I always try repair first. Right click at tool bar icon (or left?)
Are you using windows to manage connection?
This is a Mark 2? Curious about the card. 2200? Shouldn't matter if it's seeing the other wireless.
Your netgear...is it set up to auto assign I.P. numbers?(probably not the right term. Again I would look at the weird message first.
I think I would start with repair.(assuming Windows is managing connection)

Re: CF-29 wireless issue, very odd
Sorry, double post. What netgear router are you using? I have four set up and I never use the disk. Along with using 2100 cards up to the latest on several machines. (20+ off and on)
Sorry, I missed the part about the Netgear Driver in your post.

Re: CF-29 wireless issue, very odd
the model is CF-29EQKGSKM, but this isn't an issue of connectivity, it has always connected to any unsecured network that shows up when you click on the network icon in the lower bar. But for some reason this new wifi signal is not showing up only on the cf-29, my cf-19 sitting right next to it connects immediately. I can plug a netwotk cable directly from the router to the cf-29 and instant connection, but no wireless?

Re: CF-29 wireless issue, very odd
PROBLEM SOLVED, not sure how, just shut everything down again, re-booted modem and router, and this time it showed up and connected no problem.

Re: CF-29 wireless issue, very odd
Dynamically assign is the word I was looking for. FWIW here's my FWG114P.
You're running SP2? Forgive the basic questions but in this case SP2 cleared up some wireless issues.
Microsoft Corporation
ipconfig/all may give you a view of what is happening on the XP machines. Maybe you could compare the CF-19 and the 29.
Chore time.

Model Number: CF-29EQKGSKM
Status: DISCONTINUED
MSRP: $5,887
Description: Intel® Pentium M 718 1.3GHz LV (Centrino), 13.3" XGA Transmissive Touch Screen, 256MB RAM, 40GB HDD, Intel® Centrino® PRO/Wireless 802.11b+g WLAN, Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional, Dual Hi-gain Antenna Pass-through Connectors, GPS, CDMA Verizon WWAN
I believe your Mk2 CF-29 has the Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Wi-Fi card; make sure you have the latest Intel® drivers (but don't use the PROSet utility: let Windows handle the card).... but this isn't an issue of connectivity, it has always connected to any unsecured network that shows up when you click on the network icon in the lower bar. But for some reason this new wi-fi signal is not showing up only on the CF-29, my CF-19 sitting right next to it connects immediately. I can plug a netwotk cable directly from the router to the CF-29 and instant connection, but no wireless?CF-28PCJGZPM Mk2 (w/Backlit Rubber Kbd.)
