Does anybody owns a Toughbook?
Hi everybody,
I'm from Italy and I'm new in this Forum...
I'm going to by a Panasonic Toughbook CF-T2... being a rare notebook, I found only few infos about it...
so I've some questions for people who owns it or at least have "touched" it
- I heared the display is dim and have "washed out" colors ... is it true? could be due to the touchscreen function?
- what about the hard disk? is it 2.5" or 1.8"? is it 5V or 3.3V powered?
- Is it a good choice for who is looking for a light and solid notebook?
- I can buy it "new" for about 1300$ ... is it a good choice compared to others same priced 12" notebooks?
thank you everybody,
Casper

Re: Does anybody owns a Toughbook?
I can only answer dash 1 and 3, and even then not completely, sorry...
Panasonic Toughbook displays are notorious for bad quality for the saze of making them very tough, so, that is likely.
They are solid, but I'd get a Lenovo with a Titanium lid myself.Dell XPS M1210 : T5600 | 120GB 5400 | 1GB PC-533 | nVidia GO 7400 [Motherboard Fried]

Re: Does anybody owns a Toughbook?
Casper,
The displays can be some what "dim" on the older series of CF units. Nothing that some tweaking can't help.
HD is 2.5", 3.3V (but 5 v drives can be used with some pin mods).
If you don't want the CD-RW/DVD ROM drive the T2 would be fine. The W4 (or older W2) in the 12" is great too. My fav is the Y2 (now the Y4) in a 14" display size. Keyboard is too small for me on the W2/w4 series...
$1300 seems real cheap! Is that new unit with 3 year warranty?
Good luck!

My mother in law has one. I don't like that I am paying a premium price for last year's technology. I almost bought the Y4. If you do decide on buying one. Join Club Panasonic to get 10% off.
