You would just be CPU limited. The 650m is a pretty good match for the i5 imo.

there's a process known as "upgrade" that allows you to change the cpu to a more powerfull one.

You are buying a notebook with a very well balanced vga/cpu, for a good price. There´s no reason for making an improvised "do it yourself" upgrade with an external gpu + cpu change. In 2 to 3 years simple sell your used notebook and buy a better one.
