Looks like according to this article they're going with Windows 8. Let's hope for another fire sale.

Business-minded HP 'Slate 8' tablet surfaces in leaked image -- Engadget

    (1) Windows 8.
    (2) A detachable keyboard (notice the asymmetrical side design, with the side having exposed metal also having a port perfect for Asus Transformer-esque docking) bearing the Elitebook name (so it probably doesn't suck).
    (3) Good looks.
    (4) Enterprise-appropriate security.

Sounds like a recipe for success to me. I can tell you that the legal industry is adopting iPads like crazy because they're so useful for trial, and I can see this being a better solution than an iPad for that sort of white-collar use.

That it can run OneNote with a pen is win enough for me.
    Brand new, secondhand.

I hope they sell a consumer model, stripped of the keyboard, stylus, and TPM for $499 (I'm assuming ARM at that price point). I'd totally get one. I really like the asymmetric bezel design aesthetically even without the keyboard. It's distinctive and attractive.

I am so stoked for Windows 8 on a Tablet. The OS looks like a natural fit for a Tablet. That's definitely my next Tablet which will either be an ASUS Transform or a Galaxy Tablet running Windows 8.

The Transformer looks like a better fit given the half-baked nature of Win8. I do hope it doesn't turn out to be a dodo but it is rather unfinished for my preference. I hope significantly lighter 'switchables' (i.e. convertibles) will be around. I really hate the boat-anchoriness of the Thinkpad tablets, but I just find it too handy. If they could get a true all-day convertible down to <1.5Kg, colour me happy.

Interesting. HP basically abandoned the original slate as far as I can tell. I've read that it had problems with running too hot despite having only an atom processor.
If they can get a decent processor in, and get the heat under control, I could see this being a winner.

How do you know that Win 8 ARM is half-baked? It hasn't even been released to the general public in beta version (unlike Win 8 CP for desktops and laptops), not to mention retail release.

If MS doesn't botch Windows 8 for the Tablet. It has the potential to be a HUGE revenue generator for MS.
