Re: Alternative Randomness - The Neu-Clique™
I'd be pretty surprised if you were from Eastern Europe and lived in Madeira, if you were from anywhere but Ukraine*

Re: Alternative Randomness - The Neu-Clique™
To help you to actually understand the question, and not just giving you the answer...
What you know:
86 miles
16 miles per gallon
$3.9 per gallon
In english: with one gallon of gas, you car can travel 16 miles. You need to travel for 86 miles.
86 divided by 16 = 5.375, this means you need 5.375 gallons of fuel to travel 86 miles. Therefore, $3.9 for 1 gallon, 5.375 x $3.9 = $20.9625.
It's more about understanding the information you are given rather than the math.
Alternate way of thinking about it:
16 miles per gallon
$3.9 per gallon
Therefore: It cost $3.9 to travel 16 miles. So, with this information, you can find out how much ti cost to travel one single mile. $3.9/16miles = $0.24375per mile.
You need to travel 86 miles, and you know the cost per mile: 86 x 0.24375 = $20.9625 to travel 86 miles.Last edited by Johnny T; 23rd April 2012 at 11:52 PM.
