If you are like me and your hands are itchin', then go for it. Is used W8 and wasn't really impressed. Sure for a tablet it's awesome, but PC, well, it's exactly like W7 only with different start menu and some improved features.
If you ok to wait, then wait. For me it seems that CP was released just to impress people how it will perform on a tablet.

Yeah, that's the thing. It used to look cool, but then I realized that it doesn't really bring anything exciting to table for desktop/notebook users. Or not enough to justify all the extra annoyances it would seem. I'll definitely make to the move to Windows 8 sometime, probably when RTM is out, but I don't feel the urge to try it out on a device with no touch screen. My attitude might of course change if I end up getting bored someday with a lot of time to waste.

I'm not too worried about using Windows 8 right now. As much as I use my computer I don't feel like dealing with the hassle of possible troubleshooting just to be on the edge of the tech curve right now. I can learn it well enough when I get it.

Oh well, my school voted for the strike. No classes until March 20th.

I think a lot of people are thinking along the lines of "well if I had a slate..."

But that's not what I'm thinking. I'm thinking more about large-screen touch, and going as big as possible (or multi-screen multitouch, if that's possible) when Windows 8 drops. I had the first-gen Sony L a while back, and it wasn't ready for prime time. Windows 8 looks like what makes touch on desktop actually practical to a degree - as long as the apps catch up, that is.

I will also hope that there's at least one truly usable Samsung slate-style PC come Q4 this year to replace my X201's, but looking more like the Transformer than the existing Samsung. No idiot is going to be setting out a little stall with a separate keyboard and dock... well, unless you're one of those iPad-addled simpletons.

I was thinking the same thought. It would be interesting to try it out on multi-screen touch display setup. Or it could consist of combined display setup - touch and non-touch. On non touch display one would have a "classic" view and on touch "Metro". Wonder what it would be like...

Altough I would see slates as the home territory for the Metro UI, I think I will find it to be well suited for larger displays too. I've played with the thought of controlling my HTPC through Kinect once Windows 8 is released. I hate getting my pheripals greasy!

Some can be boring, but most are usually fun and the experience is invaluable too.
