    Homemade Cha Gio Chay

These are not typical egg rolls as they have taro root as the basic ingredient. Often called vegetarian egg rolls, but I do include pork. Kind of a production to make them but they are well worth it.

    he's just a pro eater.

took the new lady friend to eat sushi yesterday. me and her ended up drinking about 5-6 bottles of hot sake along with our meal.

i haven't had a nice steak in a while, so i'm either hitting up The Strip House or goto my meat guy and grab a few nicely marbled rib eyes.

@Fishon: nice viet-style eggrolls. i love the crunchiness the rice papers provide.

Those look delicious, Fishon. I make something similar with onions/cabbage/chicken/hot peppers/thin carrot slices and use plum sauce as a dip.

One thing I've been enjoying every single day is a bowl of oats cereal with hand-sliced peaches/strawberries & frozen blueberries mixed into it. Tastes soooo good and never gets old.

Exactly. Quite a different texture than standard egg rolls and the taro root gives them a potato like earthy flavor. I dip them into a sweet chili sauce- Mae Ploy.

houstoned, I'm going to Vegas tomorrow so I'll be eating at a couple restaurants on Spring Mountain Road a.k.a. Chinatown. Should be fun.

I do have a well stocked kitchen. I'll post a pic sometime soon.

Voodooi, that sounds good too. Plum sauce is definitely Chinese. Really most anything wrapped and fried into these little morsels can be quite tasty. I also go to middle eastern markets and buy ready made filo dough- it's real cheap. I'll add whatever to them, brush them with a little butter or oil and pop them into the oven. Benefit is not having to deep fry. Looks fancy but not much to it.
