Aaaah, now comes your best work. That special moment when you must produce, when all that procrastination has now landed you at this time, without a moment to waste. You'll say later 'good work, if only I had more time'.

I always seem to do my best work when under pressure. I can sit at the computer a week before somethings due and not think of anything, if I wait til the night before or even hours before the words seems just to flow right out and I'll be typing like a madman. Probably a bad way to go about things, but I rarely had a bad paper.

Anyways, what's bothering me right now is I am shopping for a new shotgun and can't decide between 2 that I both really like.

Had my first day of work today (at my schools IT help desk).. In training and in my test runs we were given like 4 supports calls per hour. Well after being there for 30 mins, we all of a sudden had a system wide Internet outage. So we're flooded with calls and I was totally not prepared for that. I thought I was keeping up pretty well, then all of a sudden I get a call from an executive level account. We're supposed to immeadiately send them up to our supervisors, because usually they're dealing with things beyond what is lowly Student Analysts are capable of.

Well the lady is pissed from the start. I'm trying to get her info so I can transfer her to someone, but she doesn't want to be transfered, she wants to be helped immediately. It turned out to be she couldn't open some corrupted zip file someone sent her (sounds pretty suspicious to me lol), but it took like 10 minutes of her yelling at me about stuff that didn't have anything to do with what we were doing before I could get he info I needed to transfer her..

Few dozen calls later and I get another exec level call. Well, when I started to transfer him, the network outage hit the IT office and I lost my ability to transfer/resume calls. Took about 60 secs to get my connection back and managed to find someone to transfer him to. He hangs up before I can transfer. He calls back and as luck would have it, he gets directed to me again. Thankfully, I don't think he noticed it was me again, but he was suuuper pissed. Claiming he'd been on hold for 20 mins (which his entire call time was literally 194secs ) and he took down my name and said if I didn't help him he'd call the head of IT division and have me fired. Didn't have to talk to him for long as I already had a Sup waiting, but sheesh!

Why do these people think they're so much better than everyone else? And what're they doing before that call that pissed them off? Then they thought "hey, I'm gonna call the student IT division and rip someone a new one for something they can't help me with!"

On top of that, they forgot to schedule me when they made the original schedule so I got stuck with crap shifts. I'm totally the worst morning person ever. I have to be there at 730 tomorrow morning. Blah! 730-1030, then class from 11-2.

I'm sure part of it is because it was my first day and we were totally slammed, but this job sucks lol.

TLDR: first day of work sucked!

^^^ It's only your first day, no worries. You're new at the job so the people on the other end on the phone line pick up on this, therefore are being rude to you. They shouldn't, but they're already calling with a problem, and you're not making them feel confident about your abilities yet. Tomorrow will go smoother, trust me. I make my living over the phone. You got to make those people sense your confidence and your ability to solve their issues.

Teammates in Team Fortress 2, I swear. This 1 guy kept on complaining about my teleporter that was 1 point behind as we were losing middle on Lazytown. After alot of expletives and threatening to quit engineer did the person stop complaining about the teleporter.

Wow, thanks! I'm sure I did sound pretty flustered and unconfident. I definitely wasn't prepared for that first day, but today should be better.

I can't remember the last time I woke up this early.. Blaah. I'm sure for you normal people, 645a is a normal work day (or earlier), but not for a college student who stays up till 3a most nights if I had a car I could sleep another half hour, but I have to walk to work, so yeah. From what others are saying we won't be getting hardly any calls this early though.

I wonder if I could get away with sleeping...?
