Long shot question but here it goes... does Google offer something like Skype Online Number?

If not, I might try Yahoo's service... since it's free. Unlike Skype's $60/year.

I just tested this with my friend and it's pretty awesome

I use Skype as well, but since I always have my gmail open, it saves me from opening another program. The interesting thing is when my friend calls me back on the same number, it calls my cell phone. I wonder if there's an option so that it calls my laptop instead...

Do you need a Google Voice Number? At one point they were giving them free. Let me know, I have a invite ~ I can PM to you.

They are free for everyone now, but just for U.S people unfortunately.

They just started rolling it out today, so it may take a few days to show up in your Gmail account

But I got it working... I registered for Google Voice, then when I registered a phone number with it and made 1 outgoing call it gave me the option to receive calls too.

It works really sweet... and its free! Goodbye Skype ^^

The only thing I'd like to customize now is I'd like to remove the automated voice that asks a caller for his/her name before I answer the call... anyone managed to remove that?
