Re: All Things Android - Apps, Phones, and Discussion
I had it on my phone for a while before realising I had no use for it.
It seems decent for what it is.

Looking at my Samsung Charge, I'm not quite sure why it's as bulky as it is. I look at my Samsung Focus, which is really slim, and I cannot image what made that large a difference. I'm thinking maybe it's the LTE module in it.
Edit: When I opened a third-party streaming music player, and went back to the home screen, the player kept streaming. I stripped naked, ran around the block screaming, "Yes! Yes! I can do other stuff at the same time as the music is playing!!" And then I hugged and kissed all my neighbors.
Ok I wasn't running around naked but you get my point...[/QUOTE]
Correct, LTE makes phones very thick as of right now.
Hahaha, amazing what multitasking can do huh? :P I'm so glad Mango will address this, even if it's iOS style multitasking.

damn.... my phone was just an inch away from being bricked

and it looks like T-Mobile switched to throttling on their end.... im being throttled to 0.10 MBit down on AOSP ROMs and even after modding my services.jar....
so much for "unlimited data"

Re: All Things Android - Apps, Phones, and Discussion
hey I have a TMobile G2 and I was wondering if there is a way to make it so when I click the black button, the screen lights up and allows me to unlock the phone because the button has 0 use for me and I am used to unlocking the iphone like that instead of pressing the power button.

Are you using stock rom (software) or custom? There are plenty of custom roms out there that allows for using the optical trackpad (black button) to unlock.

Re: All Things Android - Apps, Phones, and Discussion
stock atm, too busy to look into android custom roms and recently dumped iphone for a G2 and android is seriously awesome. Is there a way to enable it on stock rom or have to put a custom rom? And is stock rom vs a good custom rom night and day difference? like jailbroken vs unjailbroken? I am not finding anything wrong with the stock one atm but then again I dont know what kind of capabilities/enhancements custom roms can deliver. Besides android lets me install any unofficial software on it.

Yikes, how'd you manage that?
Hey, it's not truly limited until it either stops coming through at all, or you have to pay extra for itand it looks like T-Mobile switched to throttling on their end.... im being throttled to 0.10 MBit down on AOSP ROMs and even after modding my services.jar....

You can root your device (i.e. gain root-level access to the Android OS), which allows you to do pretty much anything a custom ROM can do, although it's not always as easy. In fact, you need to be rooted anyway to install custom ROM's.
As for the wake via other buttons, I know WidgetLocker lets you do that if you're rooted, although there's no selectivity to it; either you can only wake via the power button, or all hardware buttons will wake it (including the volume rocker, send button, optical pad, etc.) I'm sure there are other ways around this though; I just haven't personally experimented with any.
