As you will see, the warranty is good until May of 2016. It is the next-business day warranty, so within 1 day a Dell tech will be over to fix your laptop if anything goes wrong. If they don't fix it, you get a new laptop. This is key, as getting a new laptop in 2015 will mean an upgrade to a newer generation (probably Haswell or something).

The laptop has been used since about July 1, 2011 with ZERO problems. It is more than capable of running multiple VM instance, all of the Adobe Suite, modern games (surprising how many run at 1080p), and any productivity needs. Movies look gorgeous on the 1080p screen. Hardcore gaming via the eGPU is possible (see user Khenglish in the E6520 lounge).

Price: Asking $900 shipped. Local pickup would be near the Toronto, Canada, area for $850.

PS. I spilled water on it in Juanuary 2012, but after cleaning it up, it has been running flawlessly. Everything has been stress tested and I have not had one issue. Thanks spill-proof keyboard!

Originally I was open to the idea of a thinkpad x220t, and I think I still am, but with Ivy Bridge around the corner I feel they would get a LOOOOT better, and if I get the $1000 model now I would lose out.

I will take an HP touchpad for a lot off the price (up to 150gbp) or an older and cheaper net/notebook tablet like the Lenovo x61 or HP tm2t without any hesitation.

I wish I would've gotten back to you on this, I completely forgot. I believe it's only 7.5mm, but I don't have an HDD to test and couldn't find documentation.
