$248 on Amazon, that breaks the $1/gig barrier a lot of us buy at. I just don't have a use for another 256gb drive right now :P

I am in the same boat. I don't need a 256gb drive right now, otherwise I would totally buy it. This is the best deal on this size drive I have ever seen. (although they did have WD 250gb SSDs for $200 once, but those were lame drives and they sold out instantly).

I have one of those WD drives (for $200) and they are actually pretty darn good. The CrystalDiskMark "QD32" portion is lacking compared with Crucial M4. But queue depth is good for heavy multitasking. I considered the Crucial M4 but after seeing these results, I think I'll stick with my WD.

Isn't that the 128GB variant on the MH55 chipset?

Much better, but just about any competent SSD is an upgrade over mechanical. If I had your WD, it wouldn't be worth the upgrade even with the much better performance of the M4 really.
I always said when it went to less than $1/GB, I'd order one to upgrade my aging 160GB Intel SSD, so I pulled the trigger from Amazon since even with my aversion to data glut on my boot drive, it is down to 20GB free.ThermalTake Tai-Chi | i7-3770K | P8Z68 | 7970 | G.Skill RipjawX 1866mhz | Win8 | 256GB SSD |Apple 30"

The WD drive is fine, my main gripe is that I didn't get one
Still it doesn't even max out the Sata2 interface. You are correct thought that it is better than any hdd, especially at the price you paid.

Sadly, that doesn't actually make it any cheaper in my state. Buy charges tax, Amazon does not
