So, besides the edge-to-edge display, what's the difference between the M6700 and the Covet?

Besides the ege-to-edge Gorilla Glass 2 protection you get a "Phoenix Red" paint job on the exterior surfaces. I could be wrong, but I also think the base model of the Covet Edition has a different configuration than the base model of the standard M6700 ... which explains why the Covet Edition has a starting price that is almost $1,400 more than the starting price for the standard M6700.

Is there any reason why they just don't use 4x USB 3.0 instead of 2/2 USB3.0/2.0? Is it due to the controller on the motherboard and are these integrated yet or are they still using a separate controller? Is the eSATA/USB port, USB 3.0 and/or powered eSATA that supports SATA/300 or 600?

I hope Dell has made improvements on their Optimus drivers, the last generation seemed to fair poorly in battery life when compared with the Lenovo workstations (which is ultimately why I chose the W520). I also would like to see some sort of switchable graphics for their AMD card but the lack of any mention, makes this low in probability.

I wonder how they calculated the storage capacity for their laptops, since I doubt they use the actual capacities (as opposed to their marketed capacities, ie. GiB vs. GB). I don't see why they can't offer 2x1TB drives + 1x512GB mSATA SSD for their M4700 (which would be 2.5TB) and similarly 3.5TB for the M6700.

You're right on the money, the $1,400 difference is the price of the 4GB Video card. There is no 2GB GPU option in the Covet. I ran quotes last night on Dell's web site :-)

I still love my M6500's 1920x1200 resolution, it's hard to let go...

I hope the Gorilla Glass isn't as reflective as it was on the XPS13.

Can I has ATI m4000 in my m4600????

Not that Im upset, but the reason why I got the m4600 is because I thouhgt the cost of the new machines would be inflated as usual...boy was I wrong. The m4700 with the same-ish specs + 750GB and ultimate is the same as my m4600. Damn you dell damn you to hell! Just messing ::hugs m4600::

Yeah switchable GPU was a great feature of my old t400, but the m4600 with ati doesnt get bad battery life for what it is. I would just like to get more specs on the ati m4000 compared to the m5950 and also if its swappable into my m4600. But with my luck they switched the MXM interface.
