It's good to see all AW getting good upgrades, except for the M11x which was shockingly canceled and in my opinion a huge mistake.
Bad AW, hopefully we will see a future model that's smaller than the M14x.
Don't get me wrong I like most of AW lineup, just wished they made a M11x R4....most likely in my dreams do we see anything smaller than the M14x...*sigh*

Where you see a huge mistake I see simply a business decision from Dell, the M11x must have been such a niche product.. But why not wait a month and include Ivy Bridge? That one I don't understand.

Alienware is being "suspiciously" quiet about the M11x. By that, I mean I suspect we'll be hearing more about the M11x later this year. I have absolutely NO real evidence of a new M11x announcement, but I've heard time and time again from Alienware that a portable, entry-level Alienware notebook priced below $1,000 is a good thing for Alienware.

As for the wait for Ivy Bridge, I think Alienware didn't want customers to think they were holding still as new GPUs have been announced from NVIDIA and AMD. These notebooks will ship with Ivy Bridge when those CPUs are available, but the Alienware team wanted to get new GPUs in their notebooks as soon as possible.

I really think they should have gone back to an M15x instead of the M14x. The screen size and the 900p versus 1080p issue are both major liabilities of the M14x when cross-shopping other mid-size gaming laptops. Heck, some games don't even contain graphics settings for 900p; they only offer 720p or 1080p (I can't remember which games, but I've noticed this before).

Good updates, but I don't think we have truly seen the last of the M11x. I bet that its going to get reborn but be more along the ultrabook lines. People don't want a portable thats really not portable. I had an m11x and I loved it. I didn't really travel much with it though but when I did, I really didn't like the heft. If it comes back, I see it being Dm1z size or smaller.

Theres just no way you have decent cooling in the ultrabook spec. I think if they made a boxy*, 'overweight' 'ultrabook,' that would impress.

*as opposed to the wedgey Macbook Air

EDIT: ah, i misread portable as 'ultrabook' -_-. my point still stands

I am hoping we see something light and thin like the Razer Blade but with a more realistic price. Ultrabooks will be using the 640M in thin form factor design so I do not see why Alienware can't.
