The Y580 looks like a real legitimate gaming laptop contender! Has practically everything one could ask for in a 15'' gaming laptop with seemingly much less heft than the competition. Though the 660M GTX is still a unknown at this point, if it's at least a upgrade to the 560M GTX I can't complain.

More crazy colors. I like the looks of the Y480 and Y580 however. Its to bad the U310 and U410 are probably the same as the current models. Those laptops really need to have SD card readers added to them.

Now if only they would offer matte ips displays with higher resolutions than the cripplingly-inefficient 1366x768 on their thin 13-14 inch models, I would buy it...

I don't think the Y 4/580 will handle the heat well. Look at the chassis itself, with a GTX660m very unlikely to happen. I can see GT 635m in there like the current GT555m

Awesome. They finally included a SD reader, but then they removed the DVD drive on the u410 model?

Instead of trying to be CHEAPER than APPLE, why not try to be better? People are willing to pay MORE for a better product. Better quality and better features.

The U310 looks good though. I might get that. But waiting to see if Asus is coming out the a revised ux31.

fixed it for you....its a common fact that looks, weight, and price are what the bulk of consumers care about - mostly in that order. why do you think netbooks sold?

Yes, looks matter, but people want function too. I mean the first batch didn't have an SD reader. where they thinking?

I would have bought the U300s or U400 had they included an SD reader and a USB port located in better spot. I mean, some people still like to use a wired mouse. Not sure Lenovo was smoking when they put the USB port on the front right. They should have one USB port near the back right. (Like the Mac Air or the UX31)

Look at the UX31 from Asus. It looks awesome but has an huge number of return rate. it looks nice, but it doesn't work.

That's what happen when you cheap out on stuff.

I actually bought one in November. I wanted to like it, I wanted to keep it, but it had to go. Touchpad was acting out every now and then and it was lagging too. I had the ADATA version and it booted fast, but browsing the web was slow.

I mean, I should have just paid more and get a working Mac Air.

Now I'm just waiting to see what Lenovo or Asus has to offer in the next coming month.

If they haven't learned from their mistakes, then I see a lot of people jumping over to Mac. People hate on Mac a lot, but at least their products work.

I'm a bit skeptical about it as well, but maybe the 660M GTX brings along a die shrink to help offset the thermal issue.

I'm pretty much in your position with a hp envy 15 looking to move on to either a 2012 clevo or something else that fits the bill. The 660M GTX got me hopeful, but this is the first I've even heard of the card.

According to this report and those by Verge, the new Y-series laptops will both have Full HD display options. If that pans out, I think they'll both be very strong contenders.
