Re: HP Pavilion dm1-4010us Review: Better Than A Netbook Discussion
Needs ULV Sandy Bridge inside to really attract my attention - I'm unimpressed with the E450 CPU performance.
That said, many people would be amazed what a N570 Atom is capable of:

Intel's ULV Sandy Bridge processors are good but they don't offer any clear advantage over the E-450 in terms of battery life, actual real-world gaming or price.
I think it's that last issue that keeps Intel's ULV Sandy Bridge from showing up in more low-to-midrange ultraportables/netbooks.

The HP DM1 - 4050US does have a 2nd generation Intel Core i3-2367M 1.4Ghz with HD 3000.
It cost a little more than the APU models but you also get a external DVD read/write drive for those that wan't one.

Re: HP Pavilion dm1-4010us Review: Better Than A Netbook Discussion
The model with the i3 is perfect for me! Just waiting for them to come out with the "soft touch ash black" version that they said would be available this fall in their official press release.

Does anyone have any idea when this version is coming out? I leave on an around the world trip 1/10/12 and would love to take it with me. Thanks in advance!

Re: HP Pavilion dm1-4010us Review: Better Than A Netbook Discussion
It'd be nice to see the AMD version of the dm1 down at $400 at most. At that price point, it'd be a nice deal (and if it's anything like the X120e, if it hits the $300-350 price point, it'll sell like hotcakes).
IMO the Core i3 model costs too much for the benefits you get over the E-350 version: at that price, one could even get a full-powered Core i5 notebook or (with a great deal) a business-grade Core i3 machine. Hopefully HP will have some good coupons for it though.

I agree that the high price is not justified for the i3. To much. And I also don't like being trapped into having to buy it as a package with an external dvd drive. when they decide to offer either model in "soft touch ash black" I will pull the trigger. Looks tremendously better, easier to grip, and does not show fingerprints.
