Having to take the entire notebook apart just to clean the cooling fan = design fail. That was one of the reasons why I didn't go with the last-gen dv series, and this redesign looks to have inherited those same traits.

Notebook heat issues can be caused by a clogged cooling fan and/or heatsink, and keeping those clean is important. I clean the fans on my notebooks and netbooks regularly, but it is a royal PITA when you have to take the entire notebook apart for doing simple maintenance. You would be amazed how much dust will make it's way inside a notebook over just a one year period.

Fan dead because of a failed bearing? Finding a replacement fan is always possible, but if you have to take the entire notebook apart just to swap it out, and without a service manual, you're pretty much up the creek.

It would have been nice to see HP add an access panel above the system fans for easy maintenance/cleaning, as they did on the old zd7000 series. In comparison, the entire back panel on my HP 210 Mini pops off allowing unrestricted access to the entire system board - a design that I am totally liking.

I'm a big fan of HP, but my current workhorse over the last two years has been a Toshiba X305-Q708. HP needs a gaming laptop!!!

Having just ordered a dv6t QE, I was concerned that my smaller laptop would have this same arrow key issue, since I play many simple online games that use these keys.

Luckily, the dv6's, due to their smaller size, don't have number pads and do not squeeze the arrow keys in like in the dv7's.
