I wonder if this replacement will be Dell's Adamo replacement/AirBook competition?

Probably not, two totally different sub-brands in dell.

And combining the adamo with the more power hungry xps series will prob not happen.

Im more into a reintroduction of the s-xps type of series, a bit smaller and not as high-end as the xps.

Not really surprised. The price is basically the same as the Envy 14, which is pretty much better in every way.

Seems to me that around 2007 things starting going down for Dell. HP grabbed the top spot and dell stopped backing up their products with their 30 day refund policy with a 15% restock fee policy. HP still has a 21 day full refund policy that starts when you receive laptop. I think Dells business division is doing good these days but no way would I buy anything from their consumer lines.

Well, Dell still has Alienware, to which HP has no real counter.

Even Alienware has a 15 percent restock fee. Dell does not stand behind their products. I can just see someone buying the 11 inch alienware and then finding out about the hinge problem and then not being able to return system. Yes they did finally fix that problem but how long did that take? There are times when it is advantageous for the consumer to be able to just return something that they know is going to be no good or they may not want some idiiot start messing up a system trying to fix it. I am from the school that I want a good one from the beginning. If its DOA I want the option to bail out. Dell does not allow that anymore.

Buying online with Dell is like going to Best Buy. And we all know how great BB is for computers. IMO, Dell started putting in the restock fee when QC went down with issues with sound, screens, build quality, what have you. They just could not build notebooks to a level without having a huge amount of returns. So they implemented a penalty for returns. QC really turned for the worst around 2007. Continued with the studio series and their home line is still crap IMO. Then you have alienware which has really great support but they still won't stand behind it with a 100 percent satisfaction return policy.

Oh, I wasn't intending to counter the restock fee. My point was more that Dell has a consumer line that isn't doing quite as badly in the consumer quality (apart from the M11x hinge issue). HP hasn't exactly done much better with the Envy heat issues either.

A nice thin and light durable 12-14in with 8+ hours of battery would be nice. I love the vostro v130 setup, but would be awesome with a slot load optical, trackpoint option and switchable ati/intel GPUs. Oh and something better then the 1366x768 resolution offered...

The current XPS line is equivalent to the SXPS I have. Newer but the same power wise.
