As a college student I've used the free TurboTax edition that is online. Pretty easy and the Federal Return is also free, altogether with cheaper State Return.

Wanted to share a trick for State returns in Turbo tax: complete both your Fed and State return. Then on the Turbo tax tool bar click 'tools'. Then click 'view tax summary'. You do not get your entire return but you do get a summary with the key figures needed to figure you state return. Also with Turbo Tax free, since we are not eligible to e-file, I printed the Federal return and 'whited out' the pre-printed x's in the bank and routing info fields and entered our account info. Don't know if this is helpful or not.....

Also, most cities have free tax preperation for Fed and State taxes thru the Federal VITA tax prep program and/or AARP. There is not an age limitation but there are usually some type of income limit and complexity limit. If you don't want to pay for your taxes and just can't bear to try it your self online check out n see if there is a free preperation program in your area.

    Hope this helps
