Re: New HP EliteBook 8440w/8450w Now Available
I just noticed that the "buy now" button has disappeared from the US site but
still showing up on the Canadian site for the 8540w. Anyone know what's up?
Also irritating is that they don't list the small features like the HP nightlite and
the touchpad scrollbar.
Also heard people have ordered with the Quadro 1800 but every config I've
seen on their site only lists the 880 as an option.
And what is up with some preconfigs only shipping with 1 SODIMM slot???
I really need an 8540w but HP seems really flakey to deal with.

Re: New HP EliteBook 8440w/8450w Now Available
HP obviously discourages customization; I wonder how it helps or hurts their sales considering Dell and Fujitsu offer the service without charging extra (even though the preconfigured models are still somewhat less expensive).
I bought my ProBook 5310m preconfigured, which had an MSRP of $899. If I had configured it with the same specs, it would have been nearly $1,200 I believe.NotebookReview Writer & Reviewer

HP has always been like this (they should have one star in their little table on the pros and cons of customization
) --- but the plus side is that IMO their preconfigured business models are pretty good -- they aren't minimal stripped down configurations and mostly (if not completely) provide what you'd want anyway.

Whether they are customizable or no they still look like great machines!
