Re: HP Announces New Laptops for 2009
Right, what happened to USB 3.0?
But, back to topic, a high res screen on this please, dont make the FAIL of placing a low res with such a high end hardware.

Re: HP Announces New Laptops for 2009
It's cool that it has 4 RAM slots. I can get 8GB RAM for much cheaper now...
I hope those WD 1TB 2.5" drives come out soon. I want to run an Intel X25-M 80GB G2 and WD 1TB.
My only gripe is lack of backlit keyboard. Also, I hope this thing doesn't throttle. I don't mind it getting warm/hot as my previous Dell SXPS 1640 got pretty warm and it didn't bother me at all.

throttle? what do you mean?
Do you really use the BL KB? I mean, most of users end up being touch typists in some time, and not even look at the KB at all. (at least I know I am one with QWERTY KB...AZERTY makes me think)

LOL...ok. I think I am the minority in the BL KB world. I am a touch-typist, not like many. lol
Oh, I dont know if you can constrict the CPU like that...after all, it has HT and TB, wouldnt it be illogical?

Re: HP Announces New Laptops for 2009
Other notebooks have had their performance decreased due to heat. As long as it performs to it's max and doesn't decrease I'll be happy. I don't care if it's hot with a loud fan running. I rarely stress mine full anyway. But if I do, I'm usually away from it while it's working.

Yes, possibly. But those CPUs did not support the changes i7 does, which to stay cooler, shuts down all cores but the ones being used. And TB allows the ones used to run higher.

Wow HP is really stepping up. The Envy 15 really looks like a fine notebook. Magnesium alloy and aluminum should be the preferred build of most high end notebooks rather than plastic crap.
