Gateway NX860, M685-E, NX560 and M465-E Announced (pics)

Gateway was at the CES 2006 show and introduced a few new notebooks that will carry the new Intel Core Duo processors.  We tooks a few pictures of the 17-inch NX860 and 17-inch M685-E that Gateway had on display at the show.

Both the M685-E and NX860 will be powered by Intel's Centrino Duo processors, and will include 17-inch displays and an nVidia GeForce Go graphics controllers.  These machines will weigh in at about 7.7 pounds. Both models are due out later this month. Gateway will also roll out a series of consumer dual-core laptops later this quarter, incuding the NX560 and M465-E which will feature15.4-inch widescreen displays.

• Gateway M685-E

I assume that the picture showing a keyboard with a number pad is incorrect. That laptop jsut seems too small to have one.

I wonder wat the pricing will be like. I think I like this better than the 9400 jus due to the numberpad I hope they will have a cdn price soon, I like the free 1gig ram deal dell.ca has this week, its no 750$ coupon but its better than a free printer or carry case!

I'm guessing that it will probably be a bit better. I haven't found any concrete evidence, comparisons, or benchmarks, but from what I saw comparing a regular X1400 and X700, the Mobility X1400 should be a bit better than the Mobility X600 but not as good as the Mobility X700 or X1600.

I'm considering getting a NX560XL myself, although Gateway's finances & support track record are a bit concerning.

It has the same 4pip 2vert as x600 but since its a se it prolly will have 64bit memory. I will guess the 1400se will be worse than a x600.

New Member here - That's what I've experienced as well. GTW's support services are notoriously atrocious. You feel ripped off after buying their products because service and support are so bad. Dell is dropping down to their level as well but it's just my $.02
