    rally1:

Thanks for the excellent review and all the time you invested in testing. It's unfortunate you were unable to test with an MT Turion as this might have yielded better battery times for the AMD configurations.

Nevertheless, I found your review thorough and highly useful!

I know this is quite a bit after the original thread, but as I'm starting to do my homework, noticed a few things of minor importance.

    1. You state that the Intel has a 4200 RPM HD, while the AMD has the 5400 RPM HD. During your battery test, you leave both HDs spinning. This could (don't have a solid way to test right now) slant the idle test in favor of the Intel. Be interesting to know how they do with the HD spinning down...

    2. The OS doesn't make a difference. XP is XP in the kernel, with some minor potential for network stack differences.

    3. That Netstumbler trace? I've got an Intel wireless adapter, and if the one in your HP behaves like mine, the AMD wins. Why? Because Intel has a "problem" identifying a WiFi signal correctly, so it will report significant duplications with some drivers. For instance, my Intel Wireless card believes there are 5 APs near me right now. Pity that 3 of them are coming out of the exact same AP. At work, it find a wopping 7 copies of our wireless, because we don't broadcast the SSID. Might wanna check with Netstumbler about what it's getting back to ensure each entry is truely A) a WiFi signal, and B) unique.

    4. Another note about battery life: The Intel processesor takes up to 27 watts, the AMD you tested takes up to 34. So it's expected that the AMD is going to lose ground here.

    #1 True
#2 I agree and always have
#3 Interesting, i'll test that out.
#4 Obviously it's expected. But it's also not that simple. All the other power eating components also take thier toll. 27W vs. 34W is only a 20% difference, and the tests show it's more pronounced than that.

PS i think i'm going to sell the v2335 it's just not built well enough for me, and it's still a little big.

Yeah, I see your auction for you selling it here.

But I'm a little disturbed by the pic you took of the computer. The case looks warped and bent, what happened to it?

Sorry for the bump from the dead, but does this actually work? I've been eyeing this laptop and would love to get rid of the livestrong labels on it.... would it leave a residue or anything? or completely remove the labels? thanks. maybe a link to a guide of this process being done so I can see the after effects? thanks so much!

Did you run cpu-z to confirm those readings? My system PC2700 stick is running at 166 Mhz (real-time 159.x).
