Re: HP dv2500t, dv6500t and dv9500t Intel Santa Rosa Notebooks Announced
Hmm...the specs for the dv6500t says FSB is 667mhz. However these new Intel chips are supposed to be 800mhz FSB.

7200RPM will dry the battery faster
5400RPM is the best for mobile laptop because its balanced (less heat and less power need and less noise )

Yeah, I noticed that too. When you click "More Info" at processor, there is this blurb I noticed:
I guess they are confused, unless the standard T7100 runs on a 667 FSB? They did say it was "processor dependant".Intel's leading mobile processor gets even better with the next generation, 64-bit enabled, Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T7300 featuring 4MB internal L2 memory cache, a 2.0 GHz dual-core processor, and a 800 MHz front side bus.

Re: HP dv2500t, dv6500t and dv9500t Intel Santa Rosa Notebooks Announced
why are you thinking so ? i have 2 HDDs at 7,200 and my lappy is almost as mute as off ! the air from the vents, now that is a bigger noise ! if someone buys 800Mhz processor with 667Mhz DDR and a strong video card.. do you think, the sound is a concern for him or a faster HDD ?

well, now this is a real reason, the cost ! but you had the choice of having a 80Gb @ 7,200 rpm, instead of yours if you're saying that space is not a concern for you..

Re: HP dv2500t, dv6500t and dv9500t Intel Santa Rosa Notebooks Announced
Yah I'd rather have 80gb@7200rpm rather than 120gb@5400rpm....but the only 7200rpm option they have is the expensive 320gb. I'll just stick with the 120gb for now. Is it relatively easy to switch it out with a 300gb 7200rpm in a year or so or do I need to get the HP specific one in order for thermals and fans to react appropriately?
