Default Disk cleanup in Windows Vista. I need help.

Hello.

I have a laptop with Windows Vista. I want to do a disk cleanup to free about 4 GB, but have some reservation about certain folders.

Can anybody tell me on whether it is safe to clean up each of these items?

1. Downloaded program files
2. Temporary internet files
3. Offline web pages
4. Hibernation file cleaner
5. Recycle bin
6. Setup log files
7. System error memory dump files
8. Temporary files
9. Thumbnails
10. Per user archived Windows error reports
11. Per user queued Windows error reports
12. System archived Windows error reports
13. System queued Windows error reports

Thank you.

If you are using the standard Disk Cleanup that is part of Windows then it should be safe to clean those files. To be completely safe you can click 'view files' and double check that there isn't anything you need there, such as your favorite song or file you accidentally dropped in the recycling bin.

Be sure to check this out.

And if you do decide to nuke the hibernation files, this is how to re-enable hibernation.

Cheers...
