DSL to Verizon Fios transition
Thanks to Downloads expert advice I will be switching. When the techs show up I plan to have the verizon software D/L'ed but not installed. I was wondering other than a speedtest and latecy check what I should be looking for AFA stats.
Are stat such as the following DSL catagories relavent to FIOS?
Margin (dB)
Line Attenuation (dB)
Transmit Power (dBm)
Thanks Josea

Re: DSL to Verizon Fios transition
I don't remember which ones specifically but some should be 0 or whatever a perfect score is.
The N51VN-A1:

3Dmark Vantage P2498
Next Notebook:
8+ cores at 4+ GHZ | 5120+ shader ATI GPU | Quad SSD's. 3Dmark11E ~12000 PCMark 7D ~14000 Crysis 3.5 at 61fps
(unless the cloud destroys the PC market)

Re: DSL to Verizon Fios transition
I don't remember you being required to use a program to do the setup. The tech just gave me a address to go to, to do the setup. You should not have to worry about all of the line stuff. You should have a FO transceiver mounted at your house. They test the FO connections before it's tied to your house. Now FIOS can bring in the eithernet connection through the TV Coax or eithernet. So if your planing on using different router (not the one supplied) make sure they set and activate the eithernet line. Every time I do a renew they run a script that moves it to the coax and I have to call to get them to switch it to the proper port. btw their is 2 ports they can switch it too and one will not work.
Apple MacBook Pro 15", dual boot
Netgear FVS-338 8-port VPN router,
Dlink DGS-1216T GigE switch,
Netgear WNDR3700v2 used as AP
3 Snap4500 NAS units

Re: DSL to Verizon Fios transition
Thanks to all who replied. I am on the internet via FIOS now, and want to set the SSID to hidden. I could not login with admin/serial number on the Actiontec MI424WR rev 1. So I reset the modem (held reset button for 10 secs. , all lights when out, released the button and all lights came on)
At this point I was able to login with admin/password (192.168.1.1) via wireless connection on my Dell.
I tried to connect to the router wirelessly from my ASUS with admin/password but could not (but internet access works fine)
Anyone have any idea why I can not connect from the ASUS in my signuature?
BTW the Verizon tech did all the setup
SOLVED: had to delete saved credential in Win 7 from my old DSL modem = CP - credential manager - Generic CredentialsLast edited by JOSEA; 4th June 2012 at 06:42 PM. Reason: Solved had to delete saved creds
