belkin network usb hub - no router
so i bought the belkin network usb hub thinking i could connect it straight to my laptop's network card, but when it arrived i found out i need to connect the hub to a router via ethernet, which would then connect to my laptop.
Firstly i don't have a router, secondly this is not what i want. I just want it to be sitting 2m away from my laptop, connected to it wirelessly and pugged into the mains. Is there any quick-fix for this, could i just buy some cheap wireless adapter, plug that into the hub then connect that to my laptop or something? Or am i going to have to return the product, and if so is there anything else which would fit what i'm after?
Thanks.Clevo W150HRM

Re: belkin network usb hub - no router
That Belkin device is a piece of trash depending on your needs. I tested a newer unit about a year after the initial review and got the same results so I highly doubt they resolved the major concerns I had with the device.
For wireless USB applications with that hub you need a router. Another potentially useful option is a wireless usb hub but I've never had the pleasure of reviewing one.Desktop 13.3" Macbook Air W7 Ultimate, Core i7 2600k, Crucial M4 128GB SSD

Re: belkin network usb hub - no router
I'm not looking to connect anything which needs fast speed or high power, just things like game controllers, printers, keyboards etc. all the little things.
