Best Buy Connect - Uninstall Help needed Please?
I am setting up my son's new notebook so I can wrap it and put it under the tree tonight and am in the process of removing the bloatware and unneeded extras which Lenovo and Best Buy put on the notebook.
This notebook comes with WiMax and although I do not currently intend on using or subscribing to any WiMax services, I do not want to uninstall the notebooks capability but DO want to uninstall the Best Buy Connect software and links to the service so my son doesn't accidentally connect and cost us money.
If I use the uninstall on Win7, will it uninstall just the Wimax "Best Buy" connection or will it entirely disable and uninstall the notebooks WiMax capability?
When I do an uninstall, I get a box asking me:
Do I want to click yes in order to delete this Best Buy spam? If I click no, the program doesn't uninstall.Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?
Program Name: C:\windows\Installer\18335.msi
Publisher: Unknown
File Origin: Hard Drive on this Computer
I am a WiMax newbie and have absolutely no experience with it nor with notebooks which have it.
Thanks for your help!Last edited by govtdog; 24th December 2011 at 10:18 AM.

Re: Best Buy Connect - Uninstall Help needed Please?
You can uninstall the Best Buy Connect software. If it does remove the WiMax driver (not likely imo), you can always reinstall the drivers from the Intel website. If it removes ALL the Wifi-related software including WiDi and WiMax, these are the drivers you will need below. Install in the order given.
1. Intel PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software v14.2.0.10
2. Intel Wireless Display Software v2.1.42.0
3. Intel PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Connection Utility v6.5Join the NBR Folding@Home Team - 213698
