Wireless driver issue.
Hello,
I recently purchased an Acer Aspire 9410. It came loaded with Vista, so I downloaded the drivers from Acer's site and reformatted with XP Pro. All the drivers seem to be working except my 802.11 wireless. Device Manager says there is an unknown wireless device.
Took the panel off the back and it's a Broadcom BCM4311 KFBG. I searched everywhere but cannot find a driver. Can anyone help me out? Thank you in advance.
Regards,
AspireXP

Re: Wireless driver issue.
Here is my reply from Acer:
Dear XXXX,
Thank you for contacting Acer America. Acer can provide support for the computer as it ships from the factory. If you run a non-OEM version of Windows, please note Acer can provide limited support for non-OEM operating systems as we do not test retail versions of Windows on our products. All drivers and applications that are available for download are on our acerpanam.com website. As some drivers or vital driver links are integrated into the operating system, Acer cannot provide them separately and you may have some loss of functionality. I'm sorry but I am unable to assist you further with this issue.
Regards,
Acer Online Support Team
So I wonder if I'm out of luck...

Re: Wireless driver issue.
here you go brother, assuming what you typed in regarding the model is correct, this is what you need. you can also just go directly to www.broadcom.com and download them there.

Re: Wireless driver issue.
Hey PD, thanks for the help, unfortunately the driver didn't work. I'm very confused, it said right on the chip "broadcom bcm4311". The wireless worked with Acer's "special vista". Must be some sort of special driver only available from Acer. Guess the only thing to do is send it back and get their Vista installed, which doesn't seem like something I should have to do.

Re: Wireless driver issue.
Did you load the chip set driver or are you just using MS generic?

Re: Wireless driver issue.
Hello again, thanks for all your help.
Andy - Yeah I tried the one from their Euro site as well.
Blue/PD - I downloaded all the drivers from Acer's site so I'm pretty sure it's installed, but when I get home I'm going to reinstall the chipset drivers, maybe that's my problem.
I'm sure I went wrong somewhere along the line. If all else fails I will format again and see what happens.

The chip set should be the first driver installed.
