    Default How do I find the mac address on this modem?

    Its a 3com modem model 3CR29223..There are some numbers on the back but none specifically say "Mac Address"

    I just got this modem from my uncle along with a wireless linksys router. I don't have cable hooked up yet but I am calling them tomorrow to do it and they will ask me what my Mac Address of the modem is.

    Also I have a Wirless Linksys wrt54g router, handed down from my uncle...how do i get into the settings for this router like name and such?

    Not sure about the mac address, i don't see one on my DSL modem. Just a part #, mac addresses are alpha-numerical and 12 digits long. It just so happens that my part # is also alpha-numerical and 12 digits long, maybe that is the mac address. Check your part #.

    To access the web-based utility, launch IE and enter the routerís default IP address, 192.168.1.1, in the address field. Then press enter. A password request page will appear. Leave the user name field blank, use the default password "admin". Unless you Uncle had changed the user name and password, which you will need to get from him.

    You can download the user guide here.

    This might help:
    Start->Run->type 'cmd'
    Window pops up, type 'arp -a'

    You might see it then, probably with an IP address of 192.168.1.x. That arp table shows all of the IP and MAC addresses that you've communicated with in the last few minutes.
