I prioritized the powerful CPU over the GPU and then considered cost, which led me to the GP60.
For those who money is tight (like me) the GP60 is a excellent alternative for less.
I haven't regretted the purchase not one bit.
In absolutley every photo I've seen, there seem to be orange lights behind 5 of the 6 buttons at the top of the machine... how do I turn those on?
I am expecting my GP60 tomorrow, will get back to you about first impressions. Just a quick question though, has anyone actually used the msata connectors beneath the wifi card with an ssd to see if they are actually working? I have read that they are not active and MSI FAQ says that the GP60/70 do not have msata:
Thanks for your help
So there are two slots there, one is occupied by the wifi card and is supposingly a PCI Express Mini Card slot and the one beneath it is just one (not two) msata connection? If so, they might look alike but are not the same, the PCI Express Mini Card slot cannot be used for an msata ssd (Serial ATA - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).
Can someone that has used the lower msata slot with an ssd verify this?
Another angle of the slots.
So there are still two questions I have in this thread that are outstanding... NO ONE has answered them (one dates back to September!)
Someone mentioned his GP60 came with a "Windows 7" keyboard. How does the Win 7 kb differ from the Win 8 kb?
Also, I mentioned, that in 99.9999% of photos, there are orange LED's behind the buttons at the top (except the power which is orange/blue). Does anyone know how to get those lights to light up?
I have to be honest ... as beastly as this machine is ... I miss the sexy shape of the Asus G series machines.
