Re: Force fans to go faster?
I have a 10% profile that's definitely quieter than my 30% one.
Haven't tried 0% though.MSI 16F3: GTX 680M, 3920XM OEM, 32GB 1333MHz, Samsung 830 256GB+Samsung 1TB, WD 12.5mm 1TB HDD, 1920x1080

Re: Force fans to go faster?
On the GX640 the fan glitches at less than 31% (at least for me), this might not necessarily be the case on the 16F2.
Current: MSI GX640-098US, i5 430M OC to 3.0 GHz using SetFSB, ATI Mobility Radeon 5850 OC to 750/1000@1.06 using ATI Tray Tools
Fan Control Tools 1.0.4 26/04/2012
Fan Control Tools currently compatibility with: MSI GX640, 16F2, GX660, GT660, GT683DX, GT780, GX740

Re: Force fans to go faster?
i read through all these posts and also learned how it works on gx660
the rw-everything allowed me to peek into the state of the EC and it seems that its same to the gx640 - atleast the fan controller part
anyways all i needed to do is change 2 values of 1E into 15 thus lowering the fan speed minimum from 30 to 21.
On gx660 the value of 21% didnt cause any side effects and now its really quiet when its idle but still bumps up the speed while gaming
Anyways - testing it so far and i love it - peace and quiet at last

Re: Force fans to go faster?
Good to know =) I'll update the rar file to include the GX660 in the list of configurations.

Re: Force fans to go faster?
Thanks for your work with your information and RW everything I figured out the difference in the EC between your Gt660 and my GT780. So by now in the rw tool I can nicely change the fan. Also values below 30% are working fine.
I am quite busy right now as soon as I have a couple of minutes I will post the registers for the GT780.

Re: Force fans to go faster?
Works perfectly on my GX740 (I am using GX640 profile). This is exactly a piece of software I was looking for. It helps to keep my 6970M cool :-) Thanks a lot!

Re: Force fans to go faster?
Will this work for the GT780DX

?
I'm considering throwing it out the window if the fan doesn't shut up when laptop is idle.
