Thanks so much! I did heavily overclock the gtx555m in my alienware m14x so maybe I will stick with the laptop thats on the way. I feel the gtx570m should suffice especially with the results I have seen on these forums! As long as I can play those games in high settings with AA off of course I will be happy. Also can anyone tell me how to change my status from newbie to notebook enthusiast or are things required. Just kinda bugs me. lol I am new to the forum but not pc's. Picked up the gt683-dxr a few weeks ago, finally got around to lapping the heatsinks and applied a bit of mx4 and replacing one of the drives with the intel 520 120gb.

I've noticed that most people only posted their temp findings based on games, but has anyone actually ran their 800+ mhz using a 10-15min furmark burn in? (I'd imagine those posting 91-93C in games would probably hit closer to 97C in furmark)

I'm slowly upping my clocks and checking for artifacts now..

True in normal gaming and everyday use, temps will never get this high. Was just curious as to what others are pushing and what limited them, i.e artifacts due to temp, voltage / bus.

The old school mentality of mine (even though time consuming) is to stress the core to its limits and set the clocks accordingly without artifacts.

It also helps determine if you need to re-apply the TIM to get better temps.

I overclocked my GPU to clocks 750,1500 and 1800 with MSI Afterburner and games run very impressively fine. My only problem is, I'm getting CPU core temps at about 90-96 degrees celcius with the fan on (The GPU still runs fine and barely goes past 60-something degrees). Just want to know if this is normal and how safe this is. Do I have to reduce the clocks? I also read a few things about people tweaking with their voltages and setting it to 0.90v. Don't know what exactly that is, unfortunately. How does that help?

The higher the voltage the higher the overclock you will reach (on the core clock) but also the hotter the chip gets. Eventually (if you had unlimited voltage control) the chip would hit thermal barriers and the overclock would start going down (or the voltage would damage the chip).

However the mobile chip even at 0.9v is massively undervolted compared to its desktop brothers so no chance of damage due to voltage.

What program are you using to check temps as some get it 10C off (too high). Also you can edit the fan tables using the fan control program found in the MSI forums (dont have the link on me just now).

Also by overclocking the GPU more the fan will be more aggressive anyway and likely lower CPU temps.

Here is my current setting for my 570M.

Thanks to all the great information I have found here I am running the following settings on my 570M: 700/1400/1800.

The maximum temperature for the GPU is 72 degrees playing a variety of games. I am on the stock paste and don't see any reason at the moment to change.

I am very pleased with the performance of this GPU and would recommend these settings as a very safe and stable OC.

The Max I have pushed the GPU without increasing Voltage has been 740/1480/1900. This was also completely stable and the temperatures were about the same. I backed off to the current OC @ 700 just for peace of mind. I think there is a lot more headroom like some of the others have been posting here but I do not want to damage anything looking for another 5 FPS or so when I am already V-synched on most games at 60 FPS anyway.

When I play a game like Left 4 Dead 2 at 1920x1080 with max details and a decent level of AA and AF it is overkill to have FPS so high without V-Synch because it only seems to heat the GPU up more without improving anything that I can see or feel. When I play with V-Synch on my temps are even cooler at around 65/67 degrees.

P.S.: Has anyone tried the new Verde drivers 301.42??? I have been reading and hearing that they are causing games to slow down; for example Diablo 3. Does anyone have any experience with these new drivers?

Hey guys!

I've finally decided OCing towoards the best I could get from my GT780DX-277US. Currently I'm only using MSi AB for OCing, and I'm wondering, if you'd have any idea, if I should get Svet's tuner for better results. I mean my current clock speeds are 680/1750 and they won't go a single MHz above that w/o getting me some nice screen flashes/artifacts. What I mean here is, if I'd be able to get something like 800/1800, I'd gladly "donate" 15 Euro for that, but if my gear won't go above 720/1750 that fixed "donation" (called a price all over the world) is extremely ridiculous. Thanks a lot in advance for your opinions! Screens below:

How come everyone else seem to have above 20 GPixel/s? I thought every 1,5GB 570M is the same. Now, it doesn't really matter to me since I can do nothing about it, but in the future will be helpful.

It's a bug in GPU-Z. If you try version 0.5.6, it will show the correct reading.

at stock mine only shows up as 8.1

Update: I notice the difference by comparing my screenshot and your screenshot. It looks like yours is significantly overclocked. My MSI Afterburner won't even let me overclock that high.
