A cooling pad should allow you to overclock (when you decide to) without worrying about your temps at all.
Thanks. Ambient temp at the time was 28C. I certainly hope I got a quality paste job!

Looks like I'll be investing in a cooling pad.

Yesterday while i was playing prototype, the temp go properly over 80 and the game freeze for the first time ever o.O! Is there any good cooling fan for MSI GT683R ? Because during Spring break, I think i will overuse this computer.

Well this is due to poor optimization of the game for pc,,,same goes for Left 4 dead too,,,they tend to heat the laptops or even desktops more than the latest demanding games like BF3, witcher 2 or crysis 2,,,So dont worry about that.turn cooler boost on btw.
And if the game is freezing try turning turbo boost on and keep the laptop connected to the charging,as it seems battery alone isnt sufficient enough for the graphic card to run at its capabilities.

Got this laptop (gt683dx) for a week now as a replacement for my acer 5750g with ati 5650.
Only thing I was worried about was keyboard, but my new lappy has firm keyboard, flexibility of keyboard is even less than on my old acer. Overall build quality is really good, so really happy.
Cooler boost gives me 10-15 (celsius) less that on normal mode. Just a note my acer was going 76-79 degrees on cooler pad and gt683dx goes max 76 celsius and 65 celsius on cooler boost for bf3, swtor, syndicate, skyrim and risen2 beta on max. This is for stock paste. However, asics quality is only 80,29%, but will see how it goes in overclocked mode
Maybe will repaste it in couple of months.
I think it is good idea for everyone to get cooler pad, especially for summer. My old hp dv9575 goes even higher and I always have it on a cooler pad.

It would appear that the GT60 does in fact have a backlit steelseries keyboard!? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6O6JeI-HZs
Wonder what the "source" was for this theory, especially as an Msi reseller..

I need to ask these things
.Should I leave NVIDIA overclock at startup
.Should I open Cooler Boost through all the game way
.Is the temp 64 good enough while running game (Batman Arkham City)

btw I got cooler pad today and dont even know why when I got into Saint Rows The Third today, during intro scene the FPS turn into 16XX o.O! then when I got into the game it drop down to 34 and problem is I always play it with 60 FPS (without overclock) so any advice ? I try turbo boost but the button doesn't light up so I think this laptop has been screw and it show that it's turn on but nothing improved
