I am trying to replace the wifi card in my 683DX and I can't figure out how to remove the cover the hinge cover. Any ideas on how to open this thing up? The only thing I can come up with is use a crow bar and then glue it back together.

    Thanks,

Thanks! I was looking through the doc and am still a little confused. Do I need to disassemble everything on the bottom before I can get the front plate off.

No, just look at 6.1 to remove the power strip above the keyboard. Your WiFi card is under it. Then look at 6.4.

I got the Bigfoot Networks KillerN-1102. I saw it as a option for the laptop through a side MSI dealer so I thought it would be a good fit for me. My biggest complaint about this laptop is its single band 2.4GHZ wifi and no support for the 5GHZ spectrum.

Understood, the doc just doesn't show how to remove the power strip. I am guessing that I push in the 5 points above the keyboard but the doc doesn't show that.

    Thanks,

Maybe you should have a local technician install it for you...I wouldn't want to see you break anything.

The hardware install is the easy part, I just don't know how to open the front panel. On the bottom there is screws so getting to RAM, HDs, CPU, GPU, disk drive is straight forward and the guide does a great job of showing where all the screws are. When it comes to the front strip it just said to remove it but it doesn't show how.

Before starting, remove battery and disconnect AC adapter.

It pops off. Open your LCD display out to where it is almost flat, open your CD/DVD drive and extend it out all the way.
This should allow you to then lift on the panel on the right side, it does take a little bit of force but should start popping out. Once you get it started, gently follow along with your fingers under the bottom and move along popping the rest of the clips until it is out.
