    Default VGA out issue

I've been having issues with my VGA out where I can't get my gx640 to properly recognize my external monitor nor it's reccommended resolution max it shows is "1600x1200" when the max is 1080p. Prior to this happening I would simply plug in my VGA cable, hit detect, and my monitor "H243H" model would show up, now it shows as a Generic Non-pnp. I'm not sure what the issue is, I tried different cables, drivers, unplugging/replugging, turning monitor off and on, restarting. I plug in the VGA cable to another laptop of mine it recognizes it perfectly. I'm starting to conclude that it's the vga port that's gone bad? Any suggestions will help.

huh? I have all the correct drivers, it's an external monitor connection issue.

Lol everytime someone has a video card problem you seem to jump to the driver solution. However this sounds to me like a hardware fault.

I had the same exact problem with my Compaq. I figured out that, when Windows detected the Generic PnP monitor (instead of my name brand LG), I had the monitor completely powered down (i.e. completely shut down without AC power) then powered it up while it was still connected.

The solution was to feed the monitor some juice, i.e. let it sit in standby mode, then physically connect it to the laptop. It recognized my monitor right away. Maybe this will help.

PS. Great to be back in the NBR Forums after a long hiatus. My GX660-053US should be here tomorrow, which is why I'm lurking the MSi forums . Anyway it's good to be back.
