Re: Official MSI GX640 Owner's Thread
It's the easiest thing to upgrade , What suck in the Gx640 is that you will have to completely remove the whole heatsink ... Which means applying thermal paste everywhere (hate that part).
Don't forget some lint free cloth and thermal remover etc.. Or high percentage alcohol.GT725 | w7 Pro 64 | Qx9200 3596.2 | HD4850 512 540/890 | WD Black 320 | Blu-Ray | HyperX 987.4 | G9x | G13 | G35 P7291

Re: Official MSI GX640 Owner's Thread
I'm pretty sure it's paste, not sure though

Re: Official MSI GX640 Owner's Thread
Normally paste/pad configuration, pads tend to be on the memory but im not sure

Re: Official MSI GX640 Owner's Thread
Paste on CPU and GPU die and usually pads on the GPU memory. It's up to you what you want to do , either use the same pads (which is not recommended) or use paste instead of it (which i do).
EDIT: nvm , too slow
cata beat me to it
PS: @ Banker , don't apply paste the way frosty does on its youtube video. Just put half a pea size in the middle of the core and screw down the heatsink.GT725 | w7 Pro 64 | Qx9200 3596.2 | HD4850 512 540/890 | WD Black 320 | Blu-Ray | HyperX 987.4 | G9x | G13 | G35 P7291

Re: Official MSI GX640 Owner's Thread
I wish thermal pads had never been invented. It's such a cheap, lazy way to get around using thermal paste.

Re: Official MSI GX640 Owner's Thread
Using paste instead of pads works better .. Others you have tried can confirmed that too.
