Even though I own a Civic, the fact that TailGunner got a 2011 Civic SI coupe makes me jelly... (.___.)

The Toyoburu car is in my fantasy wishlist. I might never see one though in the streets around here because it's full of (IMO) boring Mercedes, F-150s, and tons of Challengers and Camaros.

Re: Any one else excited about Toyota/Scion FT86/FR-S?
I don't mind the 06-11 Civic Si Coupe (minus the every 30 seconds I see one). I actually like the newer Coupe look. The sedan has never interested me (increased wheelbase length, weight for no reason). I did enjoy the Honda videos they did on Best Motoring International when it showed how Hondadid the DC2 Integra testing.
But I am respecting Toyota more that they are finally bringing back RWD sports coupes into their lineup. Still mad they killed the MR-2, Supra, and RWD Corollas/Celica's.

Re: Any one else excited about Toyota/Scion FT86/FR-S?
I was thinking about getting a Civic Si, until I saw the 2012 refresh. The best selling point about this car, is its low center of gravity. There's no way a driver and change that post production with aftermarket equipments.
Compare to the 2012 Si, this car is still shy ~20 ft-lb of torque (171 ft.lb vs. 151 ft.lb), but it is also 200 lb lighter with same amount of horse power as the Civic. I am really what to see some track time comparison between the two cars once it get released. If this car can put out a lower 1/4 mile time than the Civic then it spells trouble for Honda in the enthusiast department.

Re: Any one else excited about Toyota/Scion FT86/FR-S?
The lack of torque shouldn't be a problem, unless a large towing capacity is needed. The car is pretty light compare to other cars on the market especially muscles cars. The curb weight for this car is 2700 lb; compare to Mustang (V6): 3750 lb, Camero: 3741 Challenger: 3834 and Genesis (V6): 3389. Then compare to a car is the same class (light weight) an S2000 (2006-2009 model) with its ~160 ftlb of torque and curb weight of 2700 - 2800 lb depending on options. I think this car will do just fine. source, a combination of Ford.com and wikipedia.
Torque feels nice but it isn't everything, contrary to what most muscle guys thinks. Don't get me wrong, I love American muscle cars but the world doesn't revolve around them.
Also, about the Fast and Furious Ricers, all I can say is everyone is entitled their freedom on however they want their car to look like.Last edited by Pai; 16th November 2011 at 01:14 PM.

You don't need a ton of torque on the track and for drift. Plus based off the old school AE86...torque was an afterthought.

Re: Any one else excited about Toyota/Scion FT86/FR-S?
The low torque is acceptable as long as it picks up quicker in the low RPM range. I hate it when I over-shift and the RPM drops below 3000 RPM...it's borderline bogging until the revs pick back up in the 4000 RPM range. The torque curve of most Honda motors are more reminiscent of a plateau.
