I would definitely go for SE fully loaded. It's good for resale: years down the road, depreciation will pull the two prices closer. BUT, the number of additional features remains the same. So, the fully loaded SE will stand a higher chance of finding a purchaser.

That is stupid logic. Spend a few extra grand now so that you can recoup a couple hundred more bucks years down the road.

I would agree with the others and go with a 06' or higher Mazda 6.

The best quote I got for an LE w/alloys so far is $20k and for a fully loaded SE it is $22.5k

Having a hard time deciding between the both... Will drive both of them and see
Ok, in that case, your biggest decision will focus on appearance and ride quality most likely, as the equipment level's are probably comparable.

One question though, have you test driven anything else besides the Malibu you mentioned?

Why don't you check out the Ford Fusion? The 2010 model got Motor Trend Car of the Year.

Today I drove the SE, felt way stiffer in corners compared to the 2008 LE I've driven before... Interior and Exterior also looked good... Am getting a quote of $22k before tax for the SE w/alloys + moonroof + smartkey + floor mats... There is also a 0% APR offer from Toyota financing for this car.... The resale value of the SE is also pretty high compared to LE....

Would be keeping this car for at least 4 - 5 yrs, so would be going for this one mostly....

The closest ones I had to decide between other than the Camry were Accord and the Malibu...

My cousin here has an Accord and man it looks awesome and sporty to drive - but Camry felt better.... Accord has more rear leg room...

The latest Malibu is good in all aspects except for the warranty, and resale value of the car....

Saw a 2010 Ford Fusion today on the road, looked good from the outside - havent driven it....

The quote sound's pretty reasonable, have you gone to New Cars, Used Cars, Car Reviews and Pricing - Edmunds.com and looked up the car's TMV for your area? It shows what a lot of people in your area are paying for the car. Another site to check against is New Cars Pricing and Comparisons Local, Regional and National Car Price Reports at TrueCar who does something similar.

And I'd at least test a 2010 Fusion or Milan if you get the chance. The exterior refresh didn't catch my eye at first but it's growing on me, and it's now a no excuses contender in the segment.

In any case, test driving onnne more car might give you additional ammo to get the Toyota dealer to throw more at you.

Good luck and let us know what you buy wont you?

The other factor to consider is the service department: are there negative feedback from customers? Having a crappy service department can make life difficult, even with warranty. Also, does the dealership offer free loaners when you bring it in for service or repair?

When I talk price, I always try to get the print out from their system, not the worksheet they put in front of me. The print out will break down exactly what the different components are. Without this, I won't do business.

Agreed. When buying a car, you should test drive a ton-- it is a big purchase.

You really should give the ford fusion, mazda 6 and the hyundai sonata a test drive. The mazda 6 is the best handling car in it's class, I have heard nothing but great things about the fusion and the new sonota is awesome, and Hyundai's warranty is absolutely amazing.

Maybe you can even score a slightly older Fusion Sport with AWD! That would surely beat any old Camry...
