Re: Guide to changing your Vista theme and more...
The desktop wallpaper should be saved. Did you right-click the picture and say "set as desktop Background"? As for changing your icons, there is a free program called "WinBubble". Just install it; you can easily change icons in the "icons" tab.
Just follow my guide if you want to change your theme. It's on the first page of this thread. I haven't figured out how to change the login screen though.~ Vaio FW | P8400 2.26GHz| 4GB 800MHz RAM | 320GB 7200rpm HDD | DVD±RW | ATI 3470 256MB | 1600x900 XBrite Eco | Atheros BGN | Bluetooth ~

Re: Guide to changing your Vista theme and more...
you mean:
1. First download the above files suited by your operating system(i.e., 32 bit or 64bit)
2. Now login with Administrative privileges and navigate to %systemroot%\System32
3. Right-click uxtheme.dll and click properties.
4. Take ownership of the file and close dialogs.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for themeui.dll and shsvcs.dll
6. Right-click uxtheme.dll and click properties.
7. Give yourself (or group) Full Control permissions and close dialogs.
8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 for themeui.dll and shsvcs.dll.
9. Rename uxtheme.dll to uxtheme.old.
10. Rename themeui.dll to themeui.old.
11. Rename shsvcs.dll to shsvcs.old.
12. Copy patched files into %systemroot%\System32
13. Reboot to take effect.
14. Now you can easily apply any custom visual style. My Laptops :

Re: Guide to changing your Vista theme and more...
Yes, that is what I mean. And I used this tool to take ownership of the three .dll files.
