Hi Triturbo,

I have an acer 8920g laying around in my repair shop, just wanted to ask, is it possible to use an fx 3700m or fx 3800m in this machine, I know the drivers can be installed but is it possible to display on the internal screen. I have done driver mods in the past for my dell precision 7710 i7 6920hq and a gtx 1070 mxm and that was a headache to solve as it uses optimus technology.

      Thanks mate,

      Zeeshan

Thanks for all your help man, the last thing I want to ask is about the bsel mod for socket p so I can use a x9100 in the machine. Which pins do I need to join to downlock the fsb? Can you show an image if possible as there is not much evidence on the internet.

I'm still working with senordingdong to solve the problem with the GPU upgrade of the Dragon to the Nvidia 3700M. The card works, but the WUXGA display is dimmer than it should be. Logs show that the 3700M is outputting colors consistent with 6 bit, whereas the WUXGA is 8 bit. Can you help?

      Thanks, MobileaAtist

      Hi Triturbo,
There are newer eDP displays, also I'm not sure whether or not 8770w has eDP (ZBook 17 does), ~~~~ they switched to eDP only connector on ZBooks.
you are saying that the Zbook 17 uses eDP are you certain that holds true for the Zbook 15? Would you know where I can get datasheets on the non dreamcolor screens used by HP for the 15"?

Haven't looked into the 15, but if I had to guess - yes they are eDP (since the entire industry phased-out LVDS). For 100%, you'll have to dig around. Sorry.

I think they are using the same panel as previous models, but do note that DreamColors require ColorBoard to work. It translated the eDP to LDVS - since the display is LVDS.

You made a thread a couple years back about adding a 10-bit screen to the M17x R2, and I just happened across it. I am curious about something. If you skip one of the channels, does that mean you would not be ever to implement the 10-bit, essentially leaving it as a 8-bit? I have a GTX 680M that can be flashed to a K5000M, which incidentally supports 10-bit color...

I actually tried before writing to your profile. It stated the thread was locked.

Do you still have the 7970m for sale? And would it fit directly in my M15x, no bios trouble?

      Kindly, Jesper
