      Hey Omega,
I'm getting itchy hands on upgrading my GT70-0nd with a XM processor and maybe from a 970m to a 980m.
But i know you use a 240W PSU instead of the 180W standard. Can you tell me which one? because i only see dell 19,5V 240W psu's, but i don't know of that half volt will do anything to my laptop..
      Thanks!
      Vincent

Thanks, But this one is 19,5Volts and the Original is 19Volts. Isn't this a possible problem?

Look at what I said on my first post. "This is the exact model that I am using".
I've been using this since 2012 when I purchased my GT60. 19.5v is within the 5% margin of safety. If the voltage is near to 20 volts then it's not safe to use.
But if you're not satisfied with what I told you then stick to your original 180watts.

      Hi omega,

I am trying to upgrade my MS-1761 with a GTX 970M. There is a link into your post for the MSI 970m 6GB vBIOS, but it is no longer available. I've seen you contributed a lot to the thread. Do you have this file anywhere? If yes can you please upload it somewhere or send it over?

you mean the pics on how to mod the heatsink? I'll check my files when I get home. still working...
btw your current heatsink is good enough to be modded but the heatsink for 880m, the one with an extended heatpipe going to cpu will make your gpu temps run much cooler. mine on idle got temps of only 40-43 deg celcius. with 3d games on temps reaches of up to 60 degrees.

With demanding eye popping graphics dx 11-dx12 games the temps reaches up between 85 - 90 degrees (like the latest Witcher game)

Hi Omega - did you update from 680m to 970m videocard? Did you use and moded native 680m hearsink for that - or had to get 780m hearsink and mod it?

Roger that - so basically go with 51x BIOS, native Clevo vBIOS and modified 350 inf. Gosh all this theorycrafting, card still has not arrived :D

yep. 51x bios and with native clevo vbios. much better if you get svl7 vbios. prema vbios is ok. but idle and load is much hotter because prema mod voltage is much higher compared to svl7. I am using svl7 as this is much cooler with my nb.

Need some help - after modded driver has installed - and in the hardware manager I do see NVIDIA 970M now.

HOWEVER - Geforce experience does not run, the card in the hardware manager is with the exclamation sign, and nvidiainspector would not run either... Stuck there - any suggestions?

hey omega just wanted to ask you if you had any problems with your blu ray drive after bios update, or fresh install? mine is acting very sluggish. its slow to read and respond. just thought i would see if maybe you had the same issue and figured it out LOL

nope. It's running fine. one thing though I seldom use this so when I use the bd drive on initial read it takes a bit long. but I cleaned the lense so no worries afterwards
